How it goes

Three conversations, then a decision

01 — The brief

A call about your city, your space and what you already know. We are honest early if the territory will not carry a bench.

02 — The numbers

Setup cost, parts float, expected volume and what the first year realistically looks like. Written down, not promised on a call.

03 — The bench

Two weeks of training at an existing hub, then we help you open. Your first month runs with our engineer on call.

What you bring, and what we bring

A repair bench is not a shop that sells things. It is a workshop, and it has two halves: the technical side and the local side. We have spent years on the first. You almost certainly know more than we do about the second, in your own town.

So the split is straightforward. You bring the premises, the local relationships, the walk in trade and the person who will be at the bench every day. We bring a brand people already search for, the parts supply lines, the diagnostic method, the training, and somewhere to send the jobs that need a senior engineer.

What we do not bring is a guarantee. Anyone who quotes you a monthly figure before seeing your city is selling you something. We will tell you what our own benches actually do, and let you work out whether yours would do the same.

What a laptop service centre franchise needs to work

A ground floor space people can walk into with a laptop under one arm. It does not need to be on the main road, but it needs to be findable and it needs a shutter people trust. Most of our benches are modest units rather than showrooms, because the money is in the work, not the frontage.

Inside, you need a clean bench with good light, anti static matting, and room to leave a machine open overnight without it being disturbed. Storage matters more than people expect: parts arrive in batches and customer machines need somewhere secure while they wait.

And you need one person who genuinely enjoys the work. A bench run by somebody waiting for a better job never becomes the place a town recommends.

Who this suits

The partners this works best for usually fall into three groups. Existing computer shops that already sell and service but have no board level capability and lose those jobs to the city. Engineers who have been repairing for years on their own and want a brand and a parts line behind them. And local business owners in a town with no proper service centre, who will hire the engineer rather than be one.

It suits people who are comfortable telling a customer the honest answer, including when that answer costs us the job. That is the whole reputation, and one bench giving inflated quotes damages every other bench on the list.

Territories we are opening

Our own benches cover Coimbatore, Chennai, Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Thoothukudi and Namakkal in Tamil Nadu, plus Bangalore, Kochi and Hyderabad. You can see them all on the locations page.

The gaps we hear about most are Madurai, Trichy, Salem, Vellore, Tirunelveli and Erode, along with several districts in Kerala. If your town is not on that list it does not rule it out. What matters is whether the catchment has enough machines in it, and that is a conversation rather than a rule.

Territories are protected. We will not open a second bench inside your catchment, because two GRV benches competing for the same customer helps nobody.

Warranty work and the authorised side

Lenovo warranty jobs route through our authorised centre rather than through every bench, so partners are not expected to hold warranty accreditation themselves. What that status covers is set out on the authorised service page. Out of warranty work, which is the bulk of the trade, is handled at your own bench. Partners can check any machine cover directly on the Lenovo support site, and our own service pages show the range a bench covers: laptop repair services, screen repair and data recovery.

Questions partners ask

Do I need to be an engineer myself?

No, but somebody at the bench does. Several partners hire the engineer and run the business side themselves. Training covers the process either way.

What does the training actually cover?

Two weeks at an existing hub: diagnosis before quoting, the tooling list, component level board work, parts sourcing, and how we handle the customer conversation. Your first month runs with one of our engineers on call.

Can I keep my existing shop and brand?

That is a conversation. Some partners convert entirely, others run the GRV bench as a service arm alongside what they already do. Both have worked.

Where do the parts come from?

Through our existing supply lines, which is most of the value in the arrangement. Sourcing genuine parts reliably is the single hardest thing for an independent shop to solve alone.

What happens with jobs I cannot handle?

They route to our senior bench. You keep the customer relationship and the machine comes back to you, so you are not turning work away while you build capability.

How long before a bench pays for itself?

We will not pretend there is one answer. It depends on the town, the space and how much repair work is already going elsewhere. We go through real numbers from our own benches at the second conversation, in writing.
