When one quote is a fraction of another for the same laptop, they are usually not quoting for the same work.
People ask about Lenovo motherboard price after getting two very different numbers for one dead laptop. The gap is rarely about margin. It is about what each shop actually intends to do.
What drives Lenovo motherboard price
A full board replacement means buying a complete assembly. On many models the manufacturer solders the processor straight onto it. So you are effectively buying the most expensive component in the machine.
Component-level repair means finding the one part that failed and replacing that instead. Consequently the cost is a different order of magnitude, because the part is small and the work is skill rather than stock.
Most board faults are not the whole board
A laptop that will not power on usually has a break somewhere in the power sequence. A failed charging circuit, a shorted capacitor, a damaged rail. Each is a single component.
Similarly, liquid damage tends to attack specific areas rather than destroying everything. Clean those boards early, repair them at component level, and many run for years afterwards.

Questions worth asking before you agree
Ask whether the shop repairs at component level or only replaces boards. That single question explains most of the difference between quotes.

Finally, ask what happens if the board turns out to be unrepairable. A fair answer is that you pay nothing extra and get the machine back.
When replacement really is right
Sometimes the damage is too widespread. Or someone else has already worked on the board badly. In those cases we say so rather than starting a repair we cannot finish. Whether the machine is worth it at that point is covered in repair or replace.
